Palmer 1934 Dipodomys merriami 7 mi. E Ontario, 1050 ft., San Bernardino Co., Calif. Dec. 22 Caught 2 of the race farvus on a large sand dune which was quite thickly overgrown with Squawbush (Chus trilobata), Russian Thistle (Salsola kali), Rumex sp, Artemisia sp. and green grass about 2-8 inches tall. 1 mi. NW Warren's Well, Morongo Valley, San Bernardino Co., Calif Dec. 28 Caught 2 in 60 gov.-size mouse traps set on decomposed granite soil with associated plants: Eriogonum, and Ephedra The 2 chupones and Joshua trees, catclaw and cholla cactus more scattered. Cottonwood Sgs., 1 mi. W Old Woman Sggs., San Bernardino Co., Calif Dec. 29 Caught 2 of the race merriami in 90 gov.-size mouse traps. Both were taken on level sandy ground with scattered brushes of Covillea, Atriplex, Chenopodium and other xerophytic plants. Many tracks of this species were observed and holes were quite common, but only the 2 were caught. 6 1/4 mi. E Ontario, 1025 ft., San Bernardino Co., Calif. Jan 6 1935 Caught 1 in 65 traps set on a large sand dune. This specimen was taken by a large brush of Salvia apiana with Sambucus, Rumex and Salsola nearby
