Palmer 1934. Thomomys bottae 1158 Columbia Ave., Ontario, San Bernardino Co., Calif. Dec.21 Caught one in a set made in burrows in the backyard of my home. The soil here is a sandy loam with few rocks and at this time is rather damp. Dec.22 Caught one & in a set made in a burrow with fresh mounds in a vacant lot across the street from my home. The lot was grown over with weeds, most of them dry but the Erodium and foxtail grass are green. Several burrow mouths opened into larger clumps of grass, but no evidence of grass cutting could be seen. Dec.24 Two boys brought in 2 gophers they had trapped in a field close to my home. 1 mi. N Ontario, 1075 ft., San Bernardino Co., Calif. Dec.26 The same 2 boys that brought in gophers on Dec, 24 brought in one today. (The locality indicated is 1 mi. N of the center of town.)
