6 1/4 mi. E Ontario, 1025 ft., San Bernardino Co., Calif.
Jan. 6 contd.
a few scattered bushes of Artemisia, fewer
scattered clumps of white sage (Salvia apian)
and 3 or 4 elder bushes (Sambucus glauca)
There was a vineyard to the E of the
dune but to the W a wash ran thru.
There was a flat about 100 ft. wide
between the dune and the wash. This
was covered with Evodium and short
grass with scattered small willows,
Artemisia and cactus (Prickly pear)
On this flat area, the remaining 1/3
of the traps were set.
Jan. 7 In 64 gov.-size mouse traps took
mammals of the following species:
32 Peromyscus maniculatus, 1 Dipodomys
merriami, 10 D. agilis and 1 Reithrodonto-
mys megalotis.
Jan. 8 Drove N from Ontario thru Upland
and San Antonio Heights to San Antonio
Canon and up the Canon about 4? mi.
to the cabin at: Foot of Hog Back, 3250 ft.,
San Antonio Canon, Los Angeles Co., Calif.
The place is known locally as Ojo Saw
Glen. In the cabin set 6 mouse and
3 rat traps.
Jan. 9 Caught 1 Neotoma fuscipes in a rat trap.
