Palmer 1934 Itinerary Cottonwood Spps., 1 mi. W Old Woman Spps., San Bernardino Co., Calif. Dec. 29 Cont'd. Broke camp 10 A.M. and drove home via Box 5 Ranch, Lucerne Valley, Cajon Pass, Devore, Etiwanda, Alta Loma and Upland, arriving at Ontario at 11:50 A.M. Dec. 30 Deer Canyon Wash, 4 1/2 mi. NE Upland, 1550 ft., San Bernardino Co., Calif. From my home, 1158 Columbia Ave., Ontario, Calif. drove E on 4TH St. to Archibald Ave., where turned north to Highland Ave. and E on Highland Ave. to the locality indicated above. There set 55 gorr-size mouse traps (2 1/2 - 3 ft. high) in a wash with rather thick low chaparral of Lotus glaber, Salvia apiana, Adenostoma fasciculatum, Eriogonum fasciculatum?, Artemisia sp., and in a few places larger shrubs - Prunus ilicifolia and Cercocarpus betulae folia. Soil here was sandy loam with some spots of water worn boulders and sand. Then drove W on Highland Ave. to Archibald Ave., and S 2 to 4TH St. There turned E for about 1 mi., to a place 3 mi. E Ontario, 1025 ft., San Bernardino Co, Calif.
