Palmer 1934. Mar 25 Peromyscus maniculatus gambeli. Streamside just above Caultby Station, Strawberry Canyon, Berkeley, Alameda Co., Calif. Took one & in one of 4 traps set with bacon bait along the edge of the stream in hope of getting Sorex Trowbridgii montroyensis. Cover nearby was Alder and Bay Tree, Vinebark and Wild Rose bushes and Cow-Parsnip. Mar 30 2 mi. East of Archibald Ave. on 4th St. & Quasti, San Bernardino Co., Calif. Took 7 in traps set in the mouths of old burrows, in Bacharus, under Artemesia in the bottom of the wash, in a clump of docks (Rumex) and on sandy low hills beside the wash. Oat bait. Noted the much paler coloration of pelage than the Berkeley speci- mens of this subspecies. Mar 31 2 mi East of Archibald Ave on 4th St. Quasti, San Bernardino Co., Calif. Took five in traps set on the low sandhills, in mouths of burrows and under Bacharus (Mule-fat)
