Palmer

Pipistrellus hesperus
7 mi. N Springville, 2100 ft. Tulare Co., Calif.
Shot one as it was flying low
over a large pool in the river
a little before 7 P.M. These bats would
fly rather low around the trees,
snow and then swinging down in
an arc to snatch some insect? from
the surface of the water. That they
actually touched the water was shown
by the small ripples left on the
smooth surface of the pool.
