Palmer 1934 Itinerary 1 mi. NE Upland, 1350 ft., San Bernardino Co., Calif. Aug 11 Drove from Ontario N to Upland and then NE 1 mi. to Red Hill. This is just east of a dry wash area which was trapped. The soil varied from fine sand to rocky boulders. Plant association was Lower Sonoran with White Sage, Artemisia, Bay + (Prunus ilicifolia), dry grass and Sycamore trees. Here set 45 traps in a line at 15-20 ft. intervals. Aug 12 Caught 4 Dipodomys agilis and 3 Peromyscus s. solitus. In the 45 traps. In P.M. drove 5 mi. E Ontario on 4th St. to a large sand dune. The dune is made up of fine sand and is about 1/2 mi. long and 50 ft wide. Plants which grow rather thickly on it are Sunflower, Russian Thistle and Squaw-Bush (Rhus trilobata). Here set 70 traps in a line at intervals of 10-20 ft. Aug 13 Drove E Ontario, 1050 ft. San Bernardino Co., Calif. Caught mammals of the following species: 3 Dipodomys m. parvus, 3 Dipodomys sp?, 4 Dipodomys agilis and 11 Peromyscus maniculatus. In the evening drove south from Ontario about 7 mi. to Prado, where
