General Account
Mar.25 900 ft., 1/4 mi. E. N.E. of Botanical Garden,
Berkeley, Alameda Co., Calif.
Set 14 mouse traps on the south
facing slope of the middle fork
of Strawberry Canyon. Four were
set on rather dry hillside under
Artemesia. Here took one Peromyscus
maniculatus gambeli ? and one P.
Truei gilberti ?. Farther up the slope
set 7 traps in Microtus runways
in grass and Juncus. Here took
two Microtus c. californicus + ?,
three Reithrodontomys megalotis
longicaudus one of which was
caught by the tail and brought home alive, two Peromyscus maniculatus gambeli.
Three traps were set under various
bushes. Two were on bare ground
under Bush Lupine. Here took one
Perognathus c. californicus ?. One was set in blackberry tangle
over a dead willow with no result.
The same night also set four
traps with bacon bait along Strawberry
Creek just above the Poultry Station.
Took one Peromyscus maniculatus
gambeli ?
