Palmer 1934 Thomomys bottae July 6. 12 mi. S Yerington, 4600 ft., W. Walker R., Lyon Co., Nev. Caught one in 3 sets of gopher traps set in a runway dug out below a large mound of dirt about 18" across and 8" high. This working was in black, rather fine soil and such soil seemed to be pre- ferrred to rocky soil nearby. July 11 3 mi. S Schurg, 4100 ft., Mineral Co., Nev. Caught 2 in 6 sets which were made along the stream where mounds were usually found between the very moist stream banks and the dry sand of the surrounding area. July 18. E. Walker R., 5050 ft., 2 mi. N & W Morgan Ranch, Mineral Co., Nev. Caught one in a single set in an open field near camp. Many old mounds here but very few recent ones. July 19. E. Walker R., 5100 ft., Morgan Ranch Mineral Co., Nev. Caught two in 4 sets in an alfalfa field where the mounds were neither large nor abundant.
