Palmer/1934
Ochotona princeps.
July 22 Smiths Creek, 7500 ft., Lander Co., Nev.
Caught one in #0 steel trap set in
a rock slide. Evidence of the conies
presence was found in a "hay-pile"
of cut pieces of Artemisia and Prickly
Phlox about 4-8 inches long. These
were packed in under the overhanging
edges of the largest boulders in the
rock slide which was about 5 ft across
and 2 ft high. The trap was set
under part of the overhanging edge
which did not have "hay" packed in.

but some could be heard giving the
characteristic call in nearly every rock-
