Orr 1931
Meadow Valley, 21 miles S Caliente, 3200 ft.,
Lincoln Co., Nev.

June 15, 1931
and 2 Peromyscus sp.? (See Hatfield 1931, nos. 182-183.)
The meriamii we caught in the valley floor,
where the soil was sandy and brush clumps
grew fairly far apart. The traps were set
about 25paces apart. The trap line led from
our small valley up along a small ridge.
Here, there were rocks and Tree Gera.
The majority of the Onognathus pencillatus
were caught at this point, also one Peromyscus.
The line led down the other side of this
ridge to another sandy-earthly area where
another Peromyscus, one Neotoma, and
a number of meriamii were captured. One
particular stretch of pure white sand covered
with low brush contained nothing but Dipodomys
meriamii.
Captured one Sceloporus which had gone up
the side of a Cottonwood tree to a height of 15
feet above the ground.
Black-tailed Jackrabbits are quite common
about camp, also Rock Sorex.
This evening we went down four miles to
a more open part of the valley where sand
is quite plentiful. Set out 62 mouse
traps. Saw Lasiorellus fuscipes flying
before the sun had set on the tops of the hill.
