# 202 Peromyscus maniculatus - wt. 20.1g 168-95-24-9
The left camp this A.M. for the top of Irish Mtn. and an all night stay. Arrived at top about 1:30 P.M. Yellow Pine is growing about the sides and valley, on top. Fir of some species is present, chiefly on the east facing slopes. In many places the earth beneath the Yellow Pine and fir is melted down with a low form of brush. Geanuthus is plentiful in places.
Early this P.M. I shot a Williamson Sapsucker which had alighted upon a Yellow Pine about 20 feet from camp.
During the afternoon I saw three mile deer on the ridge, two does and a spike buck.
Set out 50 mouse traps and five rat traps. Old gopher workings were numerous, but fresh ones scarce. Placed two sets, one in rocky soil beneath a boulder, and the other in soft loam near some Geanuthus. Weather was quite warm, but slightly over-cast at times.
