Oxr 1932 Walthams Creek, 4 1/2 mi SE Priest Valley, 1850 ft., Fresno Co., Calif. Dec. 28, 1932 The west came over. Said that brush rabbits are scarc now. He kills off all he can because they eat his vegetables. Green came in at dark with a Dipodomys that he had run over about 1 hr. previous along Priest Valley road just after sunset. Dec. 29, 1932 Gopher traps contained two more gophers. Two of the gophers taken now are a peculiar reddish tan color compared to the other 5 which are grayish brown. Found 1 Peromyscus truei, and 1 P. maniculatus (few.), and 2 Gambels Sparrows in traps. Hunted over Sardridge I went up yesterday. Along edge of brush near Johnson's place at sunrise I saw a jack rabbit. It bounded off into the loose chamise and Cercocarpus, disappearing in 50 yards. Shot 1 California Jay, 1 Brown Towhee, 1 Plain Titmouse, and 1 Spotted Towhee among the Toyon, Quercus dumosa and Symphoricarpos as I came down a side canyon from the ridge after rabbit hunting. At 11.05 a.m. while in this area I saw a brush rabbit run from beneath a Q. dumosa down among some small Toyon
