Orr 1932 Bodfish P.O., 2600 ft., Kern Co., Calif. Dec. 22, 1932 They are unable to gain other employment. Lauder has killed four Black Bears since he has been here, claiming that they are cattle killers. F.W. Ross said a Black Bear, so far as he knows, never kills cattle, but if it finds a fresh kill made by a deer hunter or a lion it will not hesitate to eat up the remains. This makes it appear as though it is the killer. There are still some mountain lions about here. He caught two last winter. The brothers only caught one Gray Fox last year. The last Red Foxes in this region were taken by them 30 years ago. F. Ross told me that they had reports that there were two Fishers in this region now and they were planning on trying to procure them soon. Told me that they could show me California Condors in a 3 or 4 hr. ride from here between Baker- field and Caliente on an old road that they knew of. F.W. Ross gave me a perfect description of a Goshawk that he saw here several years back. He said it came and attacked a Red-tail Hawk that was perched on a tree near his cabin.
