Dec 1932 1/2 mi. east Miramonte 3500 ft., Fresno Co., Calif. Dec 17, 1932 Plain Jetmouses were heard in the distance. An Evening Grosbeak was heard flying overhead early this a.m. All the birds (species) noted yesterday were also recorded today. Two brush rabbits were seen this morning but were off before I could raise my gun. More signs of them eating oak leaves were seen in the drift this morning. In places where the snow has melted old gopher working above ground were visible, but no grounds were seen. Shot a Fox Sparrow at 11 a.m. as it was bathing in a small pool on the edge of the brush. There was snow about the edge. The mountains rise abruptly behind camp up towards Pinehurst and are quite heavily timbered with Yellow Pine and I have been told with White Fir and Incense Cedar. It was snowing on the peaks this a.m. Yesterday I picked up the remains of a Geobonotus scirrecauda that had been beneath the snow for sometime. A considerable amount of grout is present in this region and one old wood rat nest
