margin, as were two American Egrets. A flock
of 10+ Western Dark Sparrows were seen in a
wild rose thicket out on edge of a meadow at
9:30 a.m. Several were heard singing. This is
the only point on the ranch where I have pre-
viously noted these birds. In Nov., 1931 a flock
was seen daily at this same point.
A flock of 60+ Meadow Larks were seen out
in a field over grown with a low type of
tarweed". When alarmed they flew away
in groups of 20's + with several second inter-
val between the flight of each flock. Two
Fox Sparrows were heard singing this morn-
ing irregularly. Both of them were at differ-
ent point in the wild rose thickets along the
river. Two Black Phrebes seen on perches
over the water along the river throughout
most of the day. Buteo borealis seen twice today.
A single Corderant was noted early this a.m.
6+ Ruby-crowned Knights heard singing today at
various point about ranch along the riparian
growth. Two small flocks of geese heard in
distance this morning about 11:9 m.
This evening I succeeded in shooting another
brush rabbit, and placed out 13 too rat traps
in suitable places in the wild rose tangles,
for wood rats.
