Ore Castle Ark. R.S., S Fork Clearwater Ark, 1800 ft.
1932 Idaho Co., Idaho.
July 18, 1932
3 Song Sparrows, all males. In some small pools along side of the stream we found some very large ferns of a species that was new to us. There was a great deal of red on the legs and sides, somewhat resembling R. aurora, but of a lighter, more salmon color, and extending farther along the body. Captured a garter snake (S. occidentalis).
Took several pictures of the Olive-backed Thrush nest.
It was located among the ferns about 3 1/2 feet above the ground. There were 3 eggs today and the bird was in the nest during the time that we were there.
