The first Olive-sided Flycatcher heard in this vicinity gave a call at 7:30 a.m. Last night at 9:40 p.m. a [illegible] Flycatcher was heard calling. Heard a Pileated Woodpecker & a Cassin Vireo near camp at 7 a.m. No more gophers in the set. Mv'd camp at 10:30 p.m., going to Reddy Mountain, Idaho, via Baker & Weiser. A pair of Golden Eagles were seen 8 mi. E Baker at 11 a.m. A colony of Bank Swallows were seen along the road on the Oregon side of the Snake River, 23 miles W of Weiser, Idaho. The birds were nesting in a sandy bank on the side of the road farthest from the river. The nests began almost at the point where the sandy soil of the bank that had broken off sloped down to the road, and from there up to the top of the bank, about 6 ft., nests were located from 6" to 14" or more apart. There were three colonies, two close together and one 100 yards away from the others. One of these colonies extended along the bank for 45 yards. A very conservative estimate of the number of new-nests was 35 for every 5 yards along the bank. This would total 350 nests for this one group. The other two colonies were fully as large, if not larger. Most of the nest contained young birds able to fly
