Orr 1932 12 mi. S Canyon City, 5500 ft., Grant Co., Oregon June 26, 1932 The 40 traps this a.m. contained: 1 Neotoma cinerea, 1 Erotomys, and 1 Peromyscus maniculatus. Every one of the animals caught, with the exception of one Erotomys was immature. The Bushy-tailed woodrat was taken on top of a fir stump. The Red-backed mice were taken as follows: one on a fallen log underneath some small tiers, and the other along a fallen logs in a small clearing frequented by snowshoe Hares. None of the hares were seen this a.m. by me, but Miller shot one in the same clearing that I did last night. A pair of Red Squirrels was seen down in a fir grown area 1/2 mi. SW of camp at 8 a.m. One ran across the trail with some grassy-looking material in its mouth and the other was chasing right behind it. A little beyond this in a small open area; a Red-shafted Flickers nest was found. It was located in a dead fir stump that was 10 feet tall and approximately 28" in diameter. The opening was 8 feet above the ground. The young birds were well advanced as shown by the appear- ance of one at the opening. It was pecking when I first came but when it saw me it dived down what sounded like a distance of about 18" and several others were heard giving low notes then. Two adult birds were seen
