Osn 1932 Ochoco Ranger Sta., 4000 ft., Crook Co., Oregon. June 20, 1932 West. Aspen, Wild Rose, Rubus, Yellow Pine & Fir from the conspicuous vegetation on the canyon floor. Grass is abundant along the stream as are willows. I set out 27 mouse & 1 rat trap this evening just after we arrived. The land adjacent to the stream seems very suitable for shrews & meadow mice although no runways were seen. Citellus Oregonus is present in numbers as seen by the burrows in the grassy clearings. I saw 2 at the Ranger station & one near camp. Steller Jays, Wood Pewee, Robins, Solitude Warblers, Wrylet Flycatchers were heard at dinner time. Western Wood Pewee heard calling at intervals up to 10 p.m. June 21, 1932 Traps this a.m. contained 2 Japues & 1 Microtus mordax. All were caught in tall grass & Columbine growing along stream vegetation such as willow & wild cherry. Nothing was taken up in the more open country. Rabbit signs seen in a number of places along the stream & up in Yellow Pine, Fir and Mt. Mahogany area where there were thickets of Canosthies, Amelanchier & Wild Cherry. Steller Jays numerous. Saw two young Robins just able to fly, but still being fed by parents. I shot a Three-Toed Woodpecker that was
