Orr 1932 5 mi. S Mt. Shilow, 6200 ft., Douglas Co., Oregon. June 17, 1932 Upright Flycatcher was seen in same locality where I shot one yesterday. It was singing at 6:45 a.m. on top of a small pine. Three juncos were heard during 1 1/2 hour walk thru Lodge Pole Pine. A Western Tanager was observed singing at 7:30 a.m. in a rather dense pine forest. It sang from near the tops of the larger trees, keeping rather well hidden. Audubon Warblers and Cassin Purple Finches were seen. A Ruby-crowned Kinglet was heard near camp at 8:15 a.m. No chipmunks were seen up to 8 a.m. during walk. It was probably too cold for them. Moved camp in p.m. up to a point in the Cascades 16 mi. W of Bend, 6200 ft., Deschutes Co., Oregon. Along the road between Lapine & Bend two Oregon Ground Squirrels were seen. Another was seen in Bend on an outlying lawn. This evening Pacific Righthawks were seen from sunset until 9:20 p.m. when the moon arose. One bat was seen just after dark. June 18, 1932 16 mi. W Bend, 6500 ft., Deschutes Co., Oregon. The country in which we are camped consists of Lodge Pole Pine ladder down, from our camp down to a basin 700 feet lower "1/2 mi S. From our camp, up, the timber is largely Fir (aspen) On a small hill above us there is a considerable growth of Manzanita and some Yellow Pine on the South side. In the chaparral Calaveras Warblers, Green-tailed Juncos (?) and Fox Sparrows are present. In the Fir & Lodge Pole Pine birds are far more numerous than
