Orr 1932 Triconin Ok., 7000 ft, Nye Co, Nev. June 2, 1932 on account of shale slope. Trail met 3/4 mi up. Snow coming up & down canyon found one on ridge to camp. Some tall sage & good stands of aspen up this canyon. On ridge the Pinyons are quite large and there is a certain amount of mountain Mahogany. I placed about 10 traps along the creek near camp tonight, particularly for Gapes. June 3, 1932 This a.m. it seemed a little clearer. The 10 traps placed out last night contained 4 Peromyscus maniculatus & two Zapus princeps. This morning I went up creek 1/2 mile to where trail goes over ridge to the south towards Ophir canyon, up on top of the ridge I spent a considerable amount of time in Pinyon & Mountain Mahogany. Found young Woodhouse Jay & rust. Saw following birds I (see notes under species): Red-Tailed Hawk, Bread- tailed Hummingbird, White-Throated Swift, Red- shafted Flicker, Black-throated Gray Warbler, Virginia Warbler, Audubon Warbler, Black-capped Chickadee, Hermit Thrush, Spotted Towhee, Green-tailed Towhee, Clark Nutcracker, Woodhouse Jay. Impending storm forced me home at 2p.m. Rain came down heavily this p.m. A cessation in bird song during this period was noticeable. My impression during the morning walk was that birds and chipmunks were most abundant
