Orr 1932 5 mi SE Mullett P.O., Nye Co., Nev. 93 May 29, 1932 # 475 Empidonax wt. 15 g. Sex? ? # 476 Numenius Americanus ♂ Hut across flooded meadow this a.m. to pond 1 mi. E of here. Saw pair of Mallards on pond. Ex- amined Redwing & Marsh Hawk nest. Also found some new Redwing & Brewer Blackbird nests. Found a Savannah Sparrow's nest. First young Redwing hatched. Shot a Traill Flycatcher & a Long-billed Owl within 100 yards of pond. Water in meadow has subsided to some extent, but still pretty wet. No gophers seen on islands today. Probably all have died in that area. Only 1 pair of Horned Lark seen during walk. May 30, 1932 Spent a.m. across flooded meadow where I was yesterday. Found a Meadow Lark and co Long-eared Owl nest. Between 7:15 and 8:15 a.m., I went in side of a circle of willows, Ribes and wild rose, where there was a clearing about 40 ft in diameter. Diagram looking down upon the place: The Salix, Rosa & Ribes formed a dense hedge about the place, containing 2 Yellow-throats, 1 Yellow Warbler, 1 that, 1 Traill Flycatcher. The yellow-throats were seen in the lower half of the brush (0-6 ft.) most of the time. The Yellow- N-S-E-W = Directions Ribes-Rosa-Salix Small Scirpus-Carex Spring.
