They told us at the ranch that high water and
snow would present our travelling more than
a mile or two up the canyon. The pinyon was
not exceptionally large we were told, nor were
there any oaks growing on the north end of the
mountains. After noting the birds about this
place we went over to Manhattan, procured
gas and came home to cabin 5 miles
south of Millet. Day very cold in every
locality we have been in.

This morning I spent several hours out in
the sage-brush and Tetradymia country
west of camp. Finally credit to yellow-
headed Blackbird pond 1 1/4 miles north
of cabin. Snow covering all the mountains
this morning. A far greater number of
birds were seen out this mid-morning today
than any day since we have been here.
