Set out 12 traps 1/2 - 3/4 of a mile east of the cabin, both on the flat sandy portion of the valley and in the sides and top of a ridge, East P.M. This morning two Dipodomys merriami were caught in the traps on the flat, beneath bushes.
At the base of the slope and up on the ridge the traps contained Onychomys torridus, Perognathus formosus; and one Dipodomys merriami. The country on the ridge is quite rocky and contains small brush clumps. The rocks are all small and cover the sand.
