Oct 1932 5 mi, S E Millett P.O., Nye Co., Nev. 87- May 14, 1932 collection in the M.V.2. from this region, so we are going to spend most of our time making field observations. Took a reconnoiter about this afternoon, but wind was adverse to any bird study. Collected some Scaphiopus hammundi. May 15, 1932. - Swisdale took me over to a marshy area about 1 1/4 miles east of the cabin. One pond there is particularly in- teresting, containing Sora Rail (at least one which we saw), Red-winged Black- birds, Yellow Warblers, Audubon Warblers, Sarah Sparrows, etc. The pond contains a number of different habitats. May 16, 1932. - This morning we went about 1 mile north of the cabin to a marshy pond where there was a colony of Yellow- headed Blackbirds. Two Sprig and four Eots were on the pond when we arrived. The Yellow-headed Blackbirds seemed restricted to the cat-tails, the treppuris just a little farther in the pond, the Shepherdia, wild rose, and Ribes. The latter three for sugquy posts, the first for nesting and the first and second for food. Long-tailed Chat (2)
