field observations. Took a reconnoiter about

hammundi.
May 15, 1932. - Swisdale took me over to a
marshy area about 1 1/4 miles east of the
cabin. One pond there is particularly in-
teresting, containing Sora Rail (at least
one which we saw), Red-winged Black-
birds, Yellow Warblers, Audubon Warblers,
Sarah Sparrows, etc. The pond contains
a number of different habitats.

1 mile north of the cabin to a marshy
pond where there was a colony of Yellow-
headed Blackbirds. Two Sprig and
four Eots were on the pond when we
arrived. The Yellow-headed Blackbirds
seemed restricted to the cat-tails, the
treppuris just a little farther in the
pond, the Shepherdia, wild rose, and Ribes.
The latter three for sugquy posts, the
first for nesting and the first and
second for food. Long-tailed Chat (2)
