May 13, 1932
Austin, Lander Co., Nevada.
Left Berkeley at 9 a.m. yesterday morning
and stayed in Sparks last night. Met
W.C. Russell at Verdi, where he was waiting
for E.R. Hall and party. Saw a number
of fairly large bats on east side of Sierras
at dusk. Quite a bit of snow on road
between Emigrant Gap and Summit.
Spent considerable time this morning
at the marshes and ponds west of Fallon.
Noted some of the following birds: White-
faced Glossy Ibis, Cinnamon Teal,
Coot, Avocet, Stilt, White Pelican,
Red-winged Blackbird, Yellow-headed Black-
bird, Phalaropes.
Going across Frenchman's Flat the large
lake which has formed there this spring
contained a spotted Sandpiper and
six Wilson Phalaropes.
May 14, 1932. Left Austin this a.m.
about 8:45. Travelled south to
Millet and went from there to a
cabin 5 miles southeast of there where
I met with Hall and Sam Last fall.
