Orr 1931 Virgin River, 3/4 mile E Mesquite, 1750 ft. Clark Co. Nev. Sept. 30, 1931 Caught a number of toads along an irrigation ditch by camp. Hall and Parent out together; one of us holding the flash light and the other catching the toads which were very wary and jumped into the water with the least provocation. They could be found on the top of the sides of the ditch or sitting with just their heads out of the water. Found a young cottontail (1/4 gram, probably audubini merriami) which evidently had been in the canal and was all wet: It made a squeaking wheezing noise and did not move much when caught.
