Oct 1931 Kawich P.O., 5900 ft., Nye Co., Nevada 79/75 Sept. 27, 1931 A summary of the number of traps placed by Lamb and myself in Kawich Valley last night is as follows: 30 traps apiece 2 1/2 miles by road from Kawich P.O., catching only one dark Micro- dipodops; 15 traps by myself and 11 traps by Lamb placed 3 1/2 miles SE Kaw- ich, catching nothing this a.m. ; 107 traps placed by Lamb and 92 placed by myself in dense & flat country 15 mi. SE Kawich P.O., catching 7 dark, 2 light Microdipodops & 1 Dipodomys levipes in my line and 4 light and 3 dark Microdipodops in Lamb's trap line. Moved camp early this a.m. traveling Down to Kawich Valley and from there South into the Belted Range. Arrived as our destination just before noon. Located in a small cabin in S. end Belted Range, 5 1/2 miles NW Whiterock Spring, 7200 ft; Nye Co., Nevada. Sage grows in the valley where we are staying, also large clumps of so-called bunch grass. Rocky, pinyon covered mountains surround us on all sides.
