Tonight Paul and I went down in Kawich Valley to place traps for Microdipodops. 2.4 miles east of Kawich P.O., by auto road we each placed out 30 traps. Country very sparsely covered with grass and a small amount of low bushes. went one mile farther east and each placed out 15 traps. Bushes taller and more abundant than the first place. The soil is about the same in both places being sand, gravel and silt in composition. went down to within ½ mile of sand dunes on shore of dry lake and camped for night. I placed out 92 traps here. Covering low-silt covered areas regions in which reddish gravel coverd
