Trails were numerous.
Hall's trap line set in a straight
line due south contained 6 light
colored Microdiplops. One trap
set in sand for a Dipodomy was
covered with sand. We took the
sand off the trap and upon ret-
urning a few minutes later found
it covered again. We sat a few
feet away in the moonlight and
waited to see if we could catch
sight of the animal. Hall saw
him come out, give a flip of his
tail and go back into his bur-
row. I failed to get a glimpse of
him from where I sat.
After a few minutes more of
waiting we started to dig in the
sandy soil. Beneath the surface
the ground became harder, being
composed of finer sand mixed
with silt. The burrow divided
a number of times within three
feet of the entrance but all
these offshoots turned out to be
blind pockets ending 8 or 10 inches
from the main run. The
