On 1931 5 mi. S Mallett, 5500 ft., Nye Co., Nev. 47 Sept. 12, 1931 Left Berkeley yesterday about 9:30 A.M. went to Hall's house in Payette and started out from there at 10:40 A.M. Went to Reno via Auburn, Truckee, etc. Made camp 11 3/4 mi. east of Reno for the night, on the north side of the Truckee River. Set out 45 traps together (Hall & myself), in the dark. On way up saw a Bogle's King Snake near Clipper Gap. This A.M. we found 2 Pasquatus formosus (one partly eaten), 3 Rutherfordia, and 3 Pteronura m. orocinus in the traps. The country is rather barren, being a loose soil covered with small rocks. Some small type of brush (as sage) about 1-1/4 feet high is scattered about loosely. A number of rocky areas may be seen widely. Observed skull of Sylvilagus nuttalli which was found run over on road. Saw a number of dead rabbits on highway. Went via Bradworth & Folly to Austin - met Lindsdale & Lamb there at 1:30 P.M. Stopped up with Perrine's and went E by S to 5 mi. S Mallett, 5500 ft., Nye Co., Nev.
