should X is 3.6 miles NE of Mt.
Springs, Imperial Co., Calif., or about
4.2 miles SW of Coyote Wells,Imperial

of 1,837 ft. These distances" as the crow flies).
At the time I was looking
for the type locality, there was no
water in the wash however a
search might have found some and
since I was driving a car, I could
not look for water. I did not have
this description with me either.
I believe this type locality to
be near the mouth of the canyon and
when looking for this place, I suggest
that distances should be measured
"as the crow flies," and not along
the road by automobile speeds
speedometer. I checked distance
between the present site of Coyote Wells
and Mt. Springs, at a Shell Oil

roughly 8 miles this agrees with
the distances as computed from
Mearns' data. I also suggest
