North 9 (Copy) (C.P.A.) Mmi. E of Calexico, Imperial Co., Calif. by one D shot. Dec. 24/1938. Moved camp west on high 98 toward few Calexico about 2 miles where found Dipodomys tracks on sand. I did not set any traps but only took 4 Dipodomys and one Thomomys (gopher) or after putting them up we moved camp about 1 mile west where found many Dipodomys Dec. 25/1938 tracks. I did not set any traps as was too tired. Koford caught on Dipodomys before going to bed. Dec. 26/1938. This camp is on rather rolling ground with hillocks covered with mesquite numerous nearly all of these hillocks have Testoma (woodrat) bones on them. There is some erbsote brush present also many low greybacks about 1-1/2 or 2 ft. high that appear to be a sagebrush and perhaps some (Atriplex?). One of these bushes has every prickly fruit which the rat tracks would indicate that the rats are eating. Nothing else was caught by Koford last night. This morning I found 2 freshly dug kit fox holes where I made a steel trap set beside one of them. One had bird feathers & part of a wing in it and appears to have been a G cache as the feathers were not fresh. Baited trap with
