10 July several T.b.mice & large roost of
Tadarida(?) in the mission roof (by
smell & sound). In PM Griffins came
cup to the kitchen area (Davis house where
we are staying). In front of them they
inadvertently drove a bobcat which
walked by our windows a few seconds
before they arrived. The jeep was very
scared. No mice in PM, but caught a & oriole in
glowlan.
11 July 10 mice: from oak woodland 1 P.boyleri-truei;
from meadow, 1 Reithrodontys & 2 P.maurulus,
from chaparral, 4 Peromyscus californicus & 2
P.boyleri-truei. Must be that P.c. doesn't-
lile the rain. Also one deer with green in
chaparral. Last of spring & dragged
trap - mouse which had a piece of Dipodays
tail under the bar. Most mice seem
to be coming from the interior of the
chaparral rather than the edge.
AM - went out to Bell's ranch to
check a report of bats in an outhouse
roof. There weren't any. Also checked
