Wife Plw 1974 Journal 57 Hasting Reservation, Monterey Co. Calif. 10 July several T.b.mice & large roost of Tadarida(?) in the mission roof (by smell & sound). In PM Griffins came cup to the kitchen area (Davis house where we are staying). In front of them they inadvertently drove a bobcat which walked by our windows a few seconds before they arrived. The jeep was very scared. No mice in PM, but caught a & oriole in glowlan. 11 July 10 mice: from oak woodland 1 P.boyleri-truei; from meadow, 1 Reithrodontys & 2 P.maurulus, from chaparral, 4 Peromyscus californicus & 2 P.boyleri-truei. Must be that P.c. doesn't- lile the rain. Also one deer with green in chaparral. Last of spring & dragged trap - mouse which had a piece of Dipodays tail under the bar. Most mice seem to be coming from the interior of the chaparral rather than the edge. AM - went out to Bell's ranch to check a report of bats in an outhouse roof. There weren't any. Also checked
