Vega Phil 1974 Journal 52 Olema Marin Co. Calif. 30 May We later counted 115 bats including probably 10-20 young born in the bag. Most of the F's were pregnant, the few were neither pregnant nor lactating. Most animals had a small amt of fat. Temp was in mid '60s°F. Had been foggy earlier but clear when we arrived at the coast (8AM). Bats were in a dark part of the attic space about 5' high, hanging from central beam running length of roof. Small amt of droppings on floor here too - owhere near a complete coverage of floor suggest they either just arrived, either, from the other half of the roof as from elsewhere. Red Barn National Seashore headquarters 1mi. w Olema Marin Co. Calif arrived 4AM. Bats as usualy picked up 3 M. thysanodes in a group near the light (are they only still hunting), & a bunch of M. lucifuga & a bunch of M. eumanus from 15' away from the light. Fewer bats this time, probably <400. We could see a few young. No dead adults but we saw 4-5 dead neonates under the roof. Picked up 20 droppings from the aluminum pans we
