9-11 Feb restrict the wanderings of the tourist.
"El Condoito" - an old goat hunter - was the park man in residence while we were there.
He is not permanently stationed here,
but often is.
Furthermore these feral animals are
rife. Pigs & goats everywhere. We saw
dozens of goats. Learned that the best way
to hunt them (sans rifle) is to run
down. They run only in a sprint.
We can keep track of them for a little
while - it has the endurance to keep
goin - the goat will eventually stop in,
it's track quivering just waiting to be
done in. El Condoito said that not 4 folks
had killed 200 pigs in 3 days in the
Highlands (with .22's). Also burro
rats, cat scot, dog scat & numerous rat
poop.
Fair rain. Almost continuous in
the highlands On the 10th when we desperately
wanted to get into the highlands to see
birds, storm after storm came down & drenched
us. A very wet, do not unpleasant
(fairly warm at least in the lower 70's).
