5-6Feb We got new trigger. Saw dropping &
scratching made by the land tortoise.
Highland Dumean is one of those sites where
large #'s of turtles have been recently
released.
Birding was bad. Warbler & tho 2
fligatches. We couldn't find any
recent nest sites. 3 Finches were noosed.
Several hawks seen & as usual they
attacked the occupied traps. I was
surprised to hear from Patton that the
hawks were also interested in the occupied
Sherman, which they could hear but not
see the occupant.
Cartage Bay, Isla Isabela, Galapagos, Ecuador
6-7Feb To be remembered mostly for its fish. Caught
numerous "pluma" with an elongated dorsal
fin (delician) [illegible] a sierra (mackerel?)
& others. Much more than we could eat.
Saw lots of the sierra swimming near the
boat. Tuna seen also. Large sharks
frequented the area as well.
Difficult approach. Rocky, shallow.
Tide very low (moon full), great tide
amplitude. This strip of mangroves
bashed by lava which extends for
