Weg phil 1974 Journal 31 Isla Bartoloni, Galapagos, Ecuador 4-5 Feb Finally caught a number of larger ones (4-5") in the morning on the sand. They can't swim trouble in its soft surface. Elena caught one under a boulder at night, a large 3". all seem very light. Geckos present but not easy to come by. Took over an hour to get 12. We worked the beach & the hard lava well, no success except for 2 individuals (one in a dead stump) all the rest came from the soft lava area. Fresh turtle tracks on the beach in the morning. One had swum in, well beside the beach to the first vegetation, excavated a hole under level, presumed laid eggs, & departed. Trail unmistakable bulldger-like. ( Night & Elena saw one laying eggs at Santiago.) Mosquitos (from Santiago) made it all the way out on board at night. Fran mangrove. Did some fishing. Caught this day caught was a 4-5' moray eel, very ugly. Never got as far at Sullivan Bay, as the others said it was very pretty. Lavat mangroves, sort of like Fernandina. Isla Duncan, Galapagos, Ecuador 5-6 Feb The Beagle dropped us off here (cold but Judy) while it ran large to Academy Bay. Let us off after lunch, returned to pick us up at 5:30 AM.
