Wyer Plei 1974 Journal 4 Academy bay, Isla Santa Cruz, Galapagos Is., Ecuador 20 Jan it near the net. Large #s of finches [illegible] usually flew in & often several were caught. Some seemed to have old broad petals. all shed feathers very easily. tonight saw some individual carrying things as if to build a nest. & I saw several juveniles (not yet full sized & very clumsy fliers) near the lab blding. There are numerous marine iguanas on the rocks at the base of the dining hall. I watched one large (25"+) # walk up to a flower, apparently eat some insect off of it [I couldn't see the insect but he took the flower in his mouth, released it all, then made swallowing movements & licked his lip], then immediately chase a #t [opulatus wid] them [grubbing him neck with his mouth as he mounted her]. Peltos set the sherman last night, mostly around blding. plus 26 collapsible Tomahawks. 3 rat & 1 skuy. These Tomahawks are much more effective. Land iguanas wandering around the lab blding in PM - said to be cer introduced individuals from P Cera island. Around the station its very dry, tho there are usually rain clouds hanging over the hills. Vegetation has a browner aspect than before. These station officials are a little worried.
