Nueve Pluto 1973 Journal 182 Thurs. suprised, Dept Central Paraguay. 1 Dec. higher than in Septembe (when it is lower) Vegetation fresh green, lot of flowers. [illegible] Birds were excellent. Despite our late arrival (2 met, not up until 6:30t) we cought 5 birds 7 species, o percent helps. In addition I shot a blackish blue seedeater, & we saw a great than average # of birds. Also notable were the # of genera pigs along the road near where we parked. We [illegible] been able to find some sign here but today we saw at least 10 or 15 animals. They are larger than the chaco sp., but have the same habit of setting by the edge of the road & occasionally running across. They are quite wary. Bird list: white headed marsh tyrant, pied water tyrant(?), shorteared flycatcher*, hang nest tody tyrant*, kestrels, vervillion craned flycatcher, plush crowned jay, grake thornbird*, masked gnalcateher*, red crowned finch, grayish calteter* golden billed salteter, rufous browed peppershrub*, white woodpecker, snail kit, rufous humer, crested caracara, [illegible] and two purple winged ground dar, redcrested cardinal whistling heron, striated heron, quera ceckos, smooth billed curi, black headed parakeet?, white rumped severlew, common snipe, white winged nightjar, black headed [illegible], jacana, great rufous woodcropper,
