Wygey Phil 1973 Journal 181 21 Nov. 226 km NW Villa Hayes by rd. Dept Pt Hayes, Paraguay. Saw as many Limpkin this time as last; the others were at least 15 or 20. Fierce birds in general. 4 x 5 deer armadillo on the road - which is very more than usual. The vets had little crickets. Most of them were lactating or pregnant or both. 8 of the birds appeared in breeding condition. I got a few more the following day, so weights are a little off. Those that I did do the day after that were not weighed. 27 Nov Recoleta, Asuncion, Paraguay Actually Mariscal Lopez 2003, across from the Argentine embassy. Mrs. De Barros called me to report a bat w/ 3 young was at their farm. Went, female Glaucous Howletts with 3 nursing young under a sieve in the grass. They had apparently fallen from a mango tree. Med S wind temp 80's clear all 4 preserved in formalin. 30 Nov back at home (Chapares del Chaco about 9 km of above) I met my over swimming pool Caught 3 E Plesticides, 2 Lesser Howletts, 3 L. ega. Net closed 10:30 PM Warm temp 85°F clear no wind Later same night a front came then weather turned overcast. 1 Dec 17 km E of Luque by rd. Dept Central Paraguay went out 5:15 AM with Lee Daniel, looking for birds. Overcast temp in high 70's or low 80's no wind at first but by 6 or so a mild S wind had come up the temp dropped 5 or 10 degrees. Drizzle after 8:30 when we left. Walls is high, perhaps 4 feet
