24 Sept head of a giant anteater (Myrmecophaga) that
seems had cut off left leg the road. There were
a no. of campfires only a few days old & lots of
the sticks they use for mosquito net, where we
camped. Probably the Palo Sante cutter stayed here,
at least for several day.
25 Sep
Day dawned misty, hazy, partly cloudy. N wind.
Ran the traps last night, picked up 1
Phyllos & 1 Marmoset along the dirt
road, along the TransChaco (got 1 Akodon #4
star in the field) got 2 more Akodon & 1
cenwaw. (unphyllous)
In the morning I picked up another
Marmoset along the dirt road & a Monegelphius along
the highway, & a small red mouse on a fallen
tree trunk at the edge of the field & 2 more of the
Phyllotis-like unknowns in the field. 2 of the
clearny traps were plugged w/ dirt (mosquos),
but the rest had been ignored. Stopped at
B. Verde to let off Dahl [who had gone to Philadelphia
with us] & to skin the mice. At about 3 PM, temp.
at 38C.

All were near Palm Swamp. Saw got 7/90,
along the road, all near ponds. Many bats.
