Wager Phil 1973 Journal 174 23 Sept 190 km NW Villa Hayes by rd. Dept. Pto Hayes, Paraguay people leaving their fields. Many legumes (Mimosa) in blooming. 300 km NW Villa Hayesland, Dept. Boqueron, Paraguay Lovell & Martin's camp. Stopped off for a day. They have, in addition to the previous animal catches, fix 2 Tamanduas, a 3 banded Aimadella Pitta with collars also 2 Noctelia Cerrina. Still trying to get deer. Indians bringing in large # of coats. The new man, Jamie Dahl (Hill) is mouse trapping, claims all the mice right around here have been trapped out (?) Jovett says that its hotel in Philadelphia cost 600 f/night for 3 people, for room alone - no food. Saw 2 more Toucans. Also saw 2 at Cherrea. They must migrate. Many fresh tapir tracks & droppings (?, oval, about 1" long x 3/4" wide) along the R. Verde. 410 km NW Villa Hayes by rd. Dept. Pto Hayes, Boqueron, Paraguay 24 Sept Day hot, calm, & hazy. Sl. S wind. Max temp in high 30's. We left R. Verde early, got to Philadelphia around 0:30AM, did our shopping, & picked this spot to camp at. Arrived about 2:00PM. On the S side of the rd there is a naturally clear field of several
