Cool. temp about 17°C partly cloudy strong wind but dense vegetation deep enough that it doesn't affect the nets. Caught 8 Noctilios + 2 that escaped. Heard crashing in the bush, either pigs or a tapir. Out with Lovell again, but saw nothing. 31 Aug partly cloudy, SWA temp 15°C. still strong S wind. Tapir track near where we heard the crashing last night. Lots of the legumes blooming, odor very strong in places at night. The [illegible] palo borrachos are in fruit kopok like. Many cactus fruit ripe also. We've been watching for the wara parakeet. In the morning up until 9AM or so, we see flocks of several hundred birds, Periodically they fly ups 15 or 20 feet, wheel around in a complete circle & a flash of ups to 20 or 30 split off. As if waves away from the main group it splits up, with groups of 4-10 go off
