Wings Polo 1973 Journal 164 29 Aug 300 km NW Villa Hayes by rd, Dept. Boqueron, Paraguay. arrived 3:30 PM. Eaton's line camp at the R. Verde, site of Wetzel's people. Lavett & Martin here. Lavett makes a fox, a Feli, geoffrygi, a couat & agism call with radio transmitter. all but the grison have been located several times, which pleases Lavett no end. Martin still hasn't gotten around to doing much with fox - too many other duties. They do have saw Vampires now, but none yet with transmitter. Drove out on the Transchaco for ~15 km saw little - only ne Tamandua (white back) at km315, which I left alone. Went out w. Lavett after dark. Saw a few eye, nothin close. Not much moving. Weather cool, temp probably 17-18°C alternati clear & overcast, strong wind. 20 Aug cool partly - mostly cloudy. Walked along R. Verde for a few miles also, one sandgryge, 20-25 collard peccaries crossed near us, couldn't get any. going from monte in ar sebo to monte in the other. Forest 20-40 ft high (t), dense, lots of leravelised on the ground. Dry. No well sign of roosty & pig & deer droppin. On the river bed we saw tracks of 2 kinds of pigs, deer, tapir, fox, small cat, medium sized cat (ocelot?), & wtny lien (at least 2 individuals, one small), crab eating racoon, grison, perhaps capybara, & lots of each kind.
