Journal 290 km NW Villa Hayes by rd, Dept Pte Hayes, Paraguay 19 Aug interesting considering how/what these were when we visited this area a month ago. At that time it was warm but not hot (temp in 70's). This time the temp had been very high (36 C) its preceding day. Perhaps it gets too hot under the tin roof & do birds breed (or the palm logs. At least there were no squeaking under the roof this time, & the centinel was last. The M. nigricans - M. albeus separation was unusual too. Before we've seen mixed ups. & the M. albescens? We did hear squeak in the cool house roof where we couldn't get at the birds. Perhaps that's formed a new very colony Looks like this might be a good nesting place if it dies out a little more. Bal w/ slight flat. Many lugs - especially dolovromes. Few mosquitoes. Temperature dropping, drizzle increasing. Left about 9:30 AM. We started for Pto Verde to see Wetzlo. Due to drizzle too much we returned to Chaguas. 275 km NW Villa Hayes by rd Dept Pte Hayes Paraguay 6 PM - went for a walk w/ Jara. Saw agouti at least 4-5 peccaries by the river. Hundred of ducks.
