Hayer 16 Aug 1973 Journal 150 16 Aug 230km N W Villa Hayes, Dept. Pto. Hayes, Paraguay. Been Amigo again. Stopped off for a few minutes to see if the Myotis ever returned. It looks like a few are there, but not many. The old comisario left in April & the new man has let it all go to pieces. Plants dead everything dirty etc. Which means that the bats have not been disturbed & the few droppings may have been there formerly, looks like we did 'em in. There had only a few mm of rain which is, Ioucaien: we had nearly 100 4-5 days ago. But up to Rio Negro (km 145) or so it has rained considerably. Food still damp (today was the first day in a week it has been open), roadsides pools full to overflowing. 270 km N W Villa Hayes &c Dept. Pto. Hayes, Paraguay from about Pozo Colorado (km 250) on the vegetation looks dried out. The roadside ponds are low, all the most still have water. Corvina behaving, still lots of small kites, less than road, the lot many of the storks. Arrival Charrua 3 PM. Many, many
