24 July 16:00 PM # 1001 (from Charrua). The Noctilis
must have recently molted all are a very
bright orange in contrast to the dull yellow
brown we usually see. Colur similar
colored Noctilis a year ago, in the eastern region.
On the smaller pond, rapidly drying up there
only about 10-15 ft long $ 6' web, there were
so many Noctilios that after the full web right
after dark, their feet made continuous splashing
cloud - they hit the water hard. In the
late afternoon, but before dark, Pet & I shot
several guinea pigs along the road & the edge
of the water (caring to drink?). They are abundant.
Pile brush, ittony tusks, etc - all underlain,
by trails. The white urine stains $ the
droppings are everywhere. Seem to be diurnal
or at least we never see them at night. Weather:
clear, wind has switched to (from) N #W blowing,
but calm in evening. Humid, too - mini-
temp around 10°C. Alopecytha Furnarius cristatus, & an
30 July caught 1 (dead) guinea pig, 3 skadants, & 2
Phyllostis in traps. Lots of the F. crastata, crowed
in flocks. Very terrestrial, & lots cardinals,
9 nateochles(?), & a # of frenugillids.
