Wyers pued 1973 Journal 140 275 km NW Villa Hayes by rd, Dept Pte Hayes. 26 July Paraguay 8:30 AM - attacked palm roofs. These made of split hollowed palm logs placed [diagram]. We found bats here before but when we raised the logs they flew off. Decided that today they will be torpid; so we air temp when we started 16 C, rose to 18 C by 11:30. So clear for results. Mostly Myopicca, a few Malleus & a few Tadarida of Molossops (2 app). All but the Tadarida found in mixed gps. Seemed as if roof facing NE produced more bats. All torpid counted respirations on a recently disturbed Mo - about 120/min. Felt cold to touch, very sluggish. Placed in its seem most severe but it took 15-20 warm min clumped. Also saw several skinks under the logs plus cockroaches, 2 Mylioid (collected) & various beetles & bugs. Bats preferred older, more rotten logs. Clear some wind a few clouds no mosquitoes, very few flying insects more seen at night. All bats externally seemed to be non-breeding except that too many F's had open vaginas. One of the second, B . Recorded reproductive for most individuals. Some, but not much/at all. Wet seemed a little low. PM - some mosquitoes appeared, not many opened same roost as last night. Need a thermometer to a stick placed in roost entrance. Temp at
